I have an 8330 with sprint and a macbook pro. To tether do this.
1. Make sure bluetooth is ON in your phone. If you don't know how to do this, go to MANAGE CONNECTIONS in the appiclations, make sure the box next to BLUETOOTH is checked.
2. On your macbook (or macbook pro/air) go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES, and under HARDWARE it says BLUETOOTH. Make sure the boxes next to ON and DISCOVERABLE are checked.
3. On your BB, go to MANAGE CONNECTIONS, then SET UP BLUETOOTH, make sure SEARCH FOR DEVICES FROM HERE is selected, and hit OKAY.
4. Once it is finished searching for decvices, it should find your computer if your phone is right next to it. Once it finds your computer, click on the icon that has your computer's name.
5. Your BB will ask you to put a password in. Just put whatever you like and hit OK. As soon as you do this your mac will prompt you for a password, just put the same password you put on your BB. Now your blackberry and your phone are paired via bluetooth.
6. On your mac, click SHOW ALL in the bluetooth window, and click NETWORK under INTERNET & NETWORK. Click on where it says BLUETOOTH on the left.
7. Check the box that says SHOW MODEM STATUS IN MENU BAR.
8. Click ADVANCED, and then click on the MODEM tab. Change the VENDOR to SPRINT, and the MODEL to PCS VISION. Click OK to go back to NETWORK.
9. Where it says TELEPHONE NUMBER type in "#777", and click APPLY.
10. Close the NETWORK window, and click on the little phone icon on the top of your menu bar. Click CONNECT BLUETOOTH.
11. On your BB it will ask you if you will accept the connection from your computer. Click YES (if you do not want to see this again, check the box where it says "DONT ASK ME AGAIN" and click on YES).
12. You know your blackberry is connected to the internet if you see a timer next to the phone icon. That shows you how long you have been online.
I think verizon has the same thing, though probably not legally. You may have to turn off your EVDO and switch it to 1X only, which is what i was able to do with my old LG V9800.
For T-mo and ATT i think they are completely blocked, so i don't know.
