I have an 8700g and am running 4.5.0.81 (Platform 2.7.0.78). I just upgraded last week and it was a breeze. I followed the instructions from CrackBerry (
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]). I'm using Desktop Manager 4.6 as well.
