ok..im starting to follow the above post but when i download the file to the installation path, there is no shared folder after c:\program files\common files\research in motion. should i look in a different location for it? also, the last step says to open desktop software 4.1. i downloaded 4.2, should i open that one up?

No big diff either one is ok. When u downloaded the handheld appl. make sure u install it on your computer and then go to that location to delete the vendor file.

After u do that open your dm and because u installed the appl on your comp, your dm should recognize a new OS upgrade and will put it on your phone.

but to what location am i downloading the file to? the c:\program files\common files\research in motion location? i just dont want to screw things up

Download it to any location. Create a new folder in your documents and save it there. Then go there and double click on the software to install it on your PC and then go to that location given above to delete the vendor file.

ok i installed, deleted, renamed. now im at step 4 and it can't find the file. what do i do now?

the steps 3 and 4 are for unlocking the themes I believe. Rename the Blackberry.alx.old back to Blackberry.alx

Then restart yuor comp, connect your phone and open your desktop manager and there should pop up a message saying u have new updates.

i updated but when i tried to move some .jpg wallpapers over to the media manager, it still says i need to verify the blackberry device software version 4.2 or later. where can i get version 4.2? this sucks if i can't get new wallpapers and ringtones

LOL Weird, feel sorry for u that u have to go through this. I know how it feels. Ok so did u install the desktop manager the one I gave u or the one from those steps?

well...i downloaded the other software from the same site...the one i posted in post 32. everything seems to be running fine. im gonna try one thing and if i have a prob i'll let ya know. thank you so very much for all your help by the way. i greatly appreciate it
