i already downloaded the desktop version 4.2...i need the device software. when i go to the about screen under options on my blackberry, it says 4.1. how can i get 4.2 for my blackberry?

I'm not sure what OSs they have for your model. Go to blackberry.com choose blackberry for life and then go to a tab "software" and "downloads" you should be able to find what they have for your phone.

I don understand how your dm wouldn recognize the device.

Also I'm not sure if the 4.2 OS that's on this same page idle posted would work cause its for gsm only and only for c or g models.

do you think i should update to the desktop version 4.2 sp2? would that help? also, would ya help me by asking other experienced blackberry users if they had the same problem as i have?

I don't think that will make a big difference. So you upgraded to a newer dm OS and you upgraded your handheld as well and when you connect it gives you an error message? And you can't click on media manager?

i can click on media manager, its just says that "the connected blackberry device does not support tranferring media files. verify that the device has blackberry device software 4.2 or later installed." what the hell...if i can't download ringtones or shit, im just gonna go back to my motorola razr.

Did you go to blackberry.com to find a new OS?
Go there and find the right OS under the software/ downloads and try reinstallin it.

One other thing you can try is downgradin your dm OS one more time if you can't find the 4.2 handheld OS.

Also try master reset for your phone. That might help. Go to "instructions and tutorials" forum and on there you'll find a thread for a step by step master reset.

blackberry.com didn't have a handheld OS for my 7130e. i even went to different phone carriers and nothing. when i downgrade, should i just go back to the dm disk i got from verizon? but if i downgrade, i won't have the media manager. i guess i shouldn't have gotten this phone had i known i was gonna have this many problems.

Hey Peter,
Still hanging around checking back often...7100i user. just wondering if you think you'll ever be able to put up some of these great themes for us 7100i users? or is it even possible. I know they'd be mildly different in the least but I'd love to see for example "grune erde, ferrari, and especially tri color (1st version)" put up for the 7100i! Either way, keep up the good work. You are so dedicated to helping people no matter what the need/"skill level" and I know everyone is very appreciative.
