Hmm, thats interesting...

Try this: Go to options>screen/keyboard and scroll down to the convenience key section. Take a note of what that key is assigned to do...(you can change what it does). Try to change it and see if there is an option to make it, oh i dont know, open menu?

Oh and one more thing!

Did u have the browser before u upgraded the OS? Or did u always have 4.2?

AND

(I dont actually own an 8700) how do you move/hide icons on the 8700? Usually you just hit the menu button and that bring up a list which has the moving/hiding options...
How do u go about that on an 8700?

I have an 8700 and never had a browser icon but if you hold the "alt" key and press the "escape" button (one on the side below the trackwheel) it will bring up a box with a browser icon to choose.
Reply to an earlier post about moving icons, if you hold the "alt" key and click the trackwheel it will give options to move/hide or show all icons on the home screen.
Hope this helps in some way?

BTW, I am running 4.1, is it an easy thing to upgrade to 4.2 and what are the advantages?

I cant remember exactly off the top of my head, but the difference is actually quite significant so I recommend you upgrade

Thats the easy answer, the hard question was how easy is it and how would I go about it?
Perhaps I ought to start a new thread rather than hijack this one?

Lol, well its not exactly easy, but you'd start by going to Blackberry.com and downloading the files...unfortunately, they just redesigned their site and it appears that the OS downloads are no where to be found yet ...might have to wait a bit until they get it up an running again (or until I find the page that it is located on ).
