No sound or vibration when SMS arrives

Hi

I have a BB 8707v and I have following problem. When there is an SMS arriving there is no sound or vibrationprofiles are ok ).
Today I got a new BB which was ok but when I connect it to the Desktop Manager to copy my adress book the same problem concerning SMS was there. Nomore sound or vibration. Could that be a software problem ? I have version 4.1 on my BB. When £I start the Desktop Manager he even don't find any firmware.
What can I do ? (when emails arriv there is no problem)

Well it could be a simple bug...just download the latest OS version (4.2) for your carrier.

Also, make sure uve got the latest version of desktop manager. You can get the latest one at blackberry.com

Thank you for your answer. where can Iget the OS (?) version?
After a master reset everything worked but I find out the problem. I want to be noticed when sms had been delivered and when I click this option sound and vibration are lost.
Do you think with a newer version the problem has gone?

I got it .... browser and settings are there know I followed instructions I found in forum
no i will search for the new OSversion
