on the pearl there was a shortcut, when you hold the # button it would switch your profiles to vibrate or silent.

is there a shortcut like that for the curve?

The shortcut to lock the screen should be k

On top of that...we also have the following:

w or b for internet
a or c for phonebook
s for search
f for phone profiles
g is if for my google mail
h is for hep
l is for calender
v for messages
m for messages folder
r for daily alarm
t for tasks
u for calculator
i for applications
o for options
p for phone

Oh one more thing!!!

I just realized that in order for those shortcuts to work, you must first navigate to Call Log>Menu>Options>General Options. Then, find the field that says "Dial" or "Dailing" or something along those lines and set it to "off."

The shortcuts should now work
