8830 4.5 Os

Ok....this is my first posting. I tend to be the quiet one but I am super determined and frustrated with the new 4.5 os and desperatly trying to find it!!!! I have searched for about a week and have spent more time than I care to admit! It seemed like it was out there for all bb's except the 8830! So....I was searching yet again tonight and I found a posting from a user on pinstack that said "Alltel 8830 with 4.5.51 beta here. Have had it for a month with no real issues." I can't find it! I went to Alltel's site and it linked me to the BB site but it shows only the 4.2 as the os upgrade! Anyone have any info? I am dying with all of these awesome new features and themes! I am a theme freak! I love all of the themes you guys post! They are so awesome! Thanks for your help!

After looking at this post, it doesnt look like the 8830 version is out.

Well, I may have some good news. I just finished installing BlackBerry.8830.World.Edition.OS.4.5.0.51.beta on my backup 8830 - Verizon phone. It has only just finished reloading all the data, so I have not had a chance to play with it, but at first glance it appears to have been successful.

I am basing success on the criteria that it still works as a phone incoming and outgoing, all information from my backup appears to have restored properly, it is receiving email from my BES server and lastly it has internet - was even able to download a new theme.

I will post some screenshots tomorrow as soon as I find the appropriate app.

I will also update on its behavior under use tomorrow.

BTW, I found the file by Googling BlackBerry 8830 0s 4.5 upgrade, the results listed several Torrent sites for download. I wanted to see what all the hub bub was about so took the chance.

The install was straight forward using Desktop Manager 4.5, I did have to delete the vendor.xml file in order to get AppLoader to recognize the new OS for install.

I guess that about sums it up.

Wow, really? Have you had a chance to check it out? How is it working? I was too nervous to try the Torrent sites! Please let me know what you think! I am super curious!!! :o)

4.5.0.51 is terrific...
I was given 4.5.0.77 and it has a major memory leak...
Upgrading or downgrading to 4.5.0.51 is the best thing EVER!!!

Highly Recommended!!!

Well, I have tried the 4.5 (.33) upgrade and the 4.5 (.77) and both times I have experienced "App Error 523"....what am I doing wrong? I am using the 8830 upgrade which is the phone that I have. I deleted the vendor.xml file. What else am I supposed to do? Please help! I am going bananas over here!!! I just want to my bb upgraded so I can start using the awesome new themes! HELP!!!

The only thing I can suggest is make sure you use jl_cmd to format and wipe your blackberry.

I can't believe it but it WORKED! I tried the suggestion from TeK9Samurai to try the jl_cmd and the 4.5.0.77 install was a success! Thank you TeK9Samurai!
