Default 8830 OS upgrade success one minor issue???

Yesterday I upgraded my 8830 to version 4.5 OS. With some helpful advice and kinks from Rollin (thanks). Install went smooth and so far so good. Ran it pretty hard yeaterday and this morning and so far it is working. On issue though none of the preloaded ring tones will work it states unsupported format. Has anyone else notice this or is it unique. Help in this matter appreciated. Thanks

I have not noticed any problem on my phone. What is the ring tone you are having problems with?

I found out through trial and error that my service provider didn't have the software support in place for 4.5. So my text messaging and messanger wouldn't work. had to revert back to 4.2. What a bummer

yeah you need to reinstall the ringtones which is easy if you have a copy of the ".cod" file on your computer...
If you don't I can post a link if people want it...

The only problem with 4.5.0.77 is it has a major memory leak that needs to be fixed...

In case you missed my other post...

The file goes into the following folder: (The numbers might be different for everyone but don't worry)

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8830-v4.5.0.XX_P3.2.0.XX\Java

Enjoy!!!

After that just run BlackBerry Desktop Manager...It should inform you of an update...If it doesn't just run apploader...

Don't forget to do a battery pull after you update...

Default bb8830 kinks

hey.. i recently installed the version 4.5 OS for my 8830 and the minor issue as many people seem to be having has also happened to my phone.. but i also lost my "maps" application.. i tried downloading the google maps instead but i don't know how to get that on to my phone.. does someone know how i can get that back with keeping the newer firmware... or do i have to revert back to the 4.3.......

the bb maps. is a big app. to lose.. and im not willing to lose it over a prettier background..

Hello! Guys, I have a huge problem: I upgraded my 8800 to version 4.5 OS. But now my Blackberry drives me crazy - It can somehow (I didn't touch it! ) reload as if I do a battery pull after you update! And it's happening all the time.

As I stated in the other topic, make sure you wipe it clean with jl_cmd. Sounds like a bad flash.

I just upgraded lastnight and everything works totally fine, except my phone won't vibrate anymore. I don't know if that is part of the loss of preloaded ringtones issue cause I don't use any preloaded ring tones.
