Default Latest OS: 8800 4.5.0.195/4.5.0.132 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.195 (Multilanguage)
Contains English, from TIM Italy.
This will load on any carrier's 8800 model by following the instructions below.

Package Version: 4.5.0.195
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.132
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.97
* File name: 8800M_PBr4.5.0_rel195_PL2.7.0.97_A4.5.0.132_TIM_It aly.exe
* File size: 88.3MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8800:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.

2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Are you 100% sure it will work on the 8830 Smartphone for Sprint. My last check doesn't show that being available to the Blackberry wesite. The only have 4.2.2.365.

Sprint is CDMA....but the reason for my questioning is that the original post has that it will work on ANY 8800. That is why I wanted to check before I ruined the OS that I have.

It's only updating the OS on your phone. Has nothing to do with the carrier.

TurfDr101,

I'm running running 4.5.0.101 on the 8830. The folks Ive bounced this idea off of say no way it works on the 8830. I'd be very suprised if it did work at all.

I'd do a search for 4.5.0.77 and download it. There are some occasional memory leak problems (solved with a simple reset). But the advantages are great. Media player, html email. I'm running 101. It's a little snappier but has issues with the media player. If you're not interested in video go 101. If video is important do .77.

BTW - 4.5.0.77 and 4.5.0.101 are BETA VERSIONS found "in the wild". Use at your own risk. I've got them deployed on 4 different units with no issues.

Download 8830uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel101_PL3.2.0.51_A4.5.0.77.exe (size 69,795,960) and install.

You need to go to your previous OS folder on your computer, "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared\loader files" is where your old OS and new one should be. Go into the old OS folder, then go to the java folder and find the file net_rim_bb_medialoader_qualcomm.cod. after moving and renaming the file, all you have to do is go through the update process and DM will see you added the .COD and will update the core application.

Pull your battery to restart your BB and you'll be all set.

(You can bypass all this by loading 101 with no ringtone issues).
