I had the exact same problem. There is no way it seems to get the icon back, even if you re-install maps. What I would do is delete blackberry maps and download google maps. Its way better.

Google Maps is better, but if you want your bb maps, delete it off your system and reload it using your DM. Might you have accidentally hidden the icon per chance? I'd check that first.

It works the same as BB Maps. If you don't have a data plan, it will use the cell towers to get your approximate position, but you will need a data plan to download the app.

Sorry to tell yo but you have to have a data plan for google maps.. Yes it will find you but not load a map... Also some bb os versions you have to have a data plan for bb maps icon to come back the berry needs to see the service books for it to appear.. If you know someone with a data plan pop there sim in and you icon will reapear.. I know this due to I took data off for a few months and I reloaded with 45 and after I got my data plan the icon came back.. If you have questions n his pm me

Ok this happened with my facebook application. What you have to do is go to options>Advanced Options> Applications then curse to Blackberry maps and hit the menu key and delete it. Next load your Blackberry up to your PC and load up desktop manager. Then backup your existing apps, contacts ect. and download the 4.5 OS from either here or your carier if they support it. Next re-install the OS and voila it should all be there. If not there is a download link from RIM for blackberry maps and you can do a OTA installation.

The same thing happened to me and I tried to download the google maps too and it loaded fine then when I clicked on the icon I get an error message #6 saying the file is corrupt. I have an 8820 and I use to also have amAze maps and that's gone too. Any suggestions for the BB family?
