Cool Let's Get This Going

I am amazed there isn't more going on in here. The Bold is out.... Many of us have them. Isn't it time we started listing the likes and dislikes (as if there are any dislikes) we have regarding this amazing device!!

After two weeks with my Bold....

Likes:

1. Soft touch keyboard
2. AMAZING SCREEN
3. Second to none sound!

Dislikes:

1. Should have more themes prepackaged
2. Expensive
3. Inability to set a default display size in the browser. I hate having to magnify it all the time.

There's three and three. I could go on all night with my likes... This is the most amazing phone I have ever owned. I know the Thunder is supposed to be the phone of the future but I have am OC when it comes to finger prints on anything. I will never own an iPhone or a Blackberry Thunder.

If I am not mistaken, the next release after the Thunder is going to be a flip-phone.... Again.... Not my cup of tea.

This phone is going to have to last me a while. The workmanship is top-notch, so I think it will do quite nicely!

With this post, i'm saying HI to th community, and also saying that i agree that the Bold has some dislikes but, they are much less in number than the likes in my case...for example i agree that it should have an default display size for the browser...it really sucks to magnifying all the time. With this retail price...i'm gonna keep it for a long time...for sure.

It's the best cell ever by far

I have compare the especifications for the I-Phone with the BB Bold and it doesent stand a chance. Furthermore, any scratch in the pannel...and that's it!! for makin a simple phone call...and as Sirthinks said...be ware of leaving fingerprints...who knows...(little paranoic?...may be...but...with everything connected to everything...anything could happen)

Keep It UP!!

Default Memory Problem

I have had my Bold for about a month now and only have one little (slightly large) problem. This is my first BB device and this is possibly a problem inherent with them I'm not sure. I was under the impression that the Bold has 128 megs of on board application memory and yet when I took it out of the box there was only just over 30 megs. I was under the impression that this memory was like RAM on my computer, in that it uses it to run programs as required and frees it up when it isn't. I used the Bold for about a week and for that entire time the memory continued to go down until it was around 1 or 2 megs and which time a message came up saying that I was running out of memory and to erase languages that I don't use. I did that and the memory was back up around 12 or 15 megs but again started to trickle away. Long story short, it went all the way to 0.0 kb. I looked around the device trying to find a memory manager or someway to free up memory and all I could find was the Security Memory Cleaner which only seems to removed unsecured items in case you loose it. The only way I have found to free up memory is to do a battery pull or "alt+caps+del" reset. I am currently on the Rogers network and have checked their website for a OS update but it seems that I have their most current verstion (4.6.0.125). I have read a tutorial on how to use another service providers OS but it requires certain files to be deleted and others to be changed and I'm not sure that I want to go that route just yet. I do know that there are more updated OS's out there for this device though, I just hope Rogers decides to use them soon.

Oh, and I have also found my misconception about the application memory only being for running programs, it seems that I have no choice but to INSTALL to this memory too. This kinda sucks considering there is very little pressious memory to be used to control the programs and now if I install something it permanently uses some of it up to store the program.

Anyone else have the memory issue that I have with my Bold? If so any solutions you have come up with would be awesome. Is there a way to install programs to the on board 1 gig memory instead of the application memory? This would be a great feature and I am sure that I am just doing something wrong to cause it to install in the 128 megs memory.

Other than my memory issue which I have a bit of a work around for I would have to say the Bold is one of the best cell phones I have every had, and there are far more Pros than there are Cons at this point for me. Someone also mentioned that they have a problem with there not being enough downloads out there for use yet. As with any new product that changes something like the base OS and Screen Resolution away from what has been the norm on so many other products there will be a bit of a growing period for the developers to catch up. I don't have too much of a problem with this because I know people are working fast and hard to get stuff out for the Bold and I am just glad I am on the first wave.

Any and all help would be appreciated,

Oh yeah...

I also have my Bold two months ago and yesteday this message appears on my screen. Also erased the not used languages and seems to solved the problem. But reading your post, i've checked the memory settings and from the tittle "aplication memory", there seems to be association with the stored e-mails and calendar entries, among others. As you my friend, also was under the impression that this kind of data, stores itself in the 1GB memory...but it seems to be that those 128MB its all that we have.

Mr. B or Rollin!!...come on gurus!!...what about this?

Best regards
