Default Found a solution for Vista - DM 4.3 problem

I had all the same problems with trying to get DM to work when I loaded 4.3 on my Vista computer. Couldn't get it to open as it would just blink on the screen. I also got all the same errors about the component addins that wouldn't install. I wlas so frustrated and finally talked to one of the very own RIM computer experts at their Headquarters and could you believe it-they didn't even know there was a problem! Hadn't heard of it before so they didn't know how to fix it and told me to go back to Microsoft and it was their Vista problem...

well, needless to say I was not happy...I spent 5 days trying to get the DM and BB Curve to kiss each other. I enen tried the S..tool. So I called RIM back the next day and the manager told the same person to talk to me and get it fixed ( We both talked for another 2 hours and I finally came up with an idea. After looking at the Windows updates I thought perhaps the windows installer 3.1 that I used for XP needed to be upgraded for VISTA. And as we were working on this, another call came in from a BB Curve customer complaining about the same thing. So the RIM people put the word out to be prepared for many more calls. At least they now had a solution.

That was it!!! Once I updated the new Windows installer 4.5(check the Microsoft site) everything worked and has been smooth since. Except for a few other things which are unrelated to this problem. So if you haven't thought of it, try this solution... you've got nothing to lose but more wasted time.

Good luck!
