If you are loading an OS that is from a carrier that is different from your carrier, then yes, you have to remove the vendor.xml file.

Options - Security Options - Memory Ccleaning
by Default the OS sets it to Disabled. change to Enabled and modify the settings according to your preference.

***REMINDER***
when the berry restarts (battery pull) Memory Cleaning reverts back to Disabled. just head on back to the same screen and change back to Enabled. the OS will keep your settings so at least you wont have to set everything all over again.

Exclamation Risks

Hey everyone! this is my first post:

What are the true risks of upgrading to a newer OS? I'm from Argentina and for sure the carrier I have is not the same of the OS I want to upgrade to (4.5.0.69). Currently I have v4.2 and I can't apply newer themes.

I use my BB 8310 for work and it's crucial that I don't miss any previous configuration (email and calendar through BES, carrier settings, contacts, etc.). I don't mind the downloaded soft and themes, but these are important.

thanks! see ya.
Nick

when upgrading to a new OS you will have to authenticate to the BES again. this means having the administrator simply re-activate your account.
for us here at work, i just call my buddy and let him know i upgraded another phone, he asks for the PIN and IMEI, verifies the account name, then sets the activation password to something simple.

once the OS is loaded, just navigate over to Enterprise Activation, enter the information and click Activate.
depending on the signal strength, 10 minutes later you are getting email all over again.

as for the information on your phone, the desktop manager will backup your data and then restore it for you. all your personal contacts, autotext, graphics, etc will be carried over.
upgrading usually takes about 30-45 minutes depending on how much crap you keep on your device.

What if you use the BIS provided by your BlackBerry provider (In this Case Rogers). Is there any risk in upgrading to 4.5?
