Thanks for posting this. So I've downloaded and installed the 4.5 on my computer but when I plug my 8330 into the computer and fire up Desktop Manager, it acts like there's no upgrade to be had.
I am definitely still stuck on Version 4.3. Any suggestions?

Make sure you delete the vendor file before trying to upgrade on another providers os.

Yup, the vendor file was deleted right after I ran the installer on my desktop. By all rights it should launch directly into upgrading but it's just not happening. =/

No kidding. And I've tried a billion different ways to get it to work. Uninstalled the 4.5, fixed my registry, restarted and reinstalled the software...no luck. It's just not recognizing it as a potential update.
Any suggestions?

Did you go into your control panel and uninstall the previous OS that you installed to your computer? If you have 2 listed there, uninstall both, reinstall the new one and try the steps again.

I did a complete uninstall, complete with fixing my registry and ensuring that all residual files were gone. Then I reinstalled. Still no luck. =/ Guess it's really a hit and miss kind of a deal.

Ok so i finally got the update to work a few days ago. I uninstalled the 4.5 update, updated the blackberry desktop manager to 4.7 then reinstalled the update and it worked. Try that out maybe i'll work

Okay, so apparently the issue is in the Desktop Manager version used. When you use the latest (4.7), the subsequent installation of the 4.5 OS tends to install multiple instances of the vendor.xml file elsewhere on your machine that's difficult to find.
For those of you still having problems upgrading to 4.5 OS, I suggest uninstalling Desktop Manager 4.7, uninstalling the 4.5 OS that you've got, rebooting, then downloading and installing 4.6 of the Desktop Manager instead (with or without Media Sync). Once Desktop Manager 4.6 is installed, go ahead and retrieve the 4.5 OS update from the link on page one of this thread, install, delete the Vendor.xml file and run Desktop Manager with your BB connected via USB.
It'll work.
