Default BB Pearl 8100 Ringtone troubles

Hi everyone,

I got it in my head yesterday that I wanted to make one of my favorite parts of a song a ringtone. I know my friend is able to do it on her phone, so I figured I would give it a shot. We made the file and saved it as an MP3. I sent the file to my phone (via email) as a MMS and it plays in my messages folder just fine. I went into my menu and chose "save ringtone" and tried to save it to the ringtones folder. When I did this, it tried to save it as '598' (the file name is tony the beat) and when I went to look for it in the folder it is not there. I have looked in countless forums all over the web for other people who have been having the same problem, I have tried expanding my capacity (because maybe the file was too large), I have pulled out the battery, it still does not show up. I don't have the USB cord for my BB right now so I can't send it that way. I was even recommended to save it in the music folder since it's an MP3, but that didn't work either. When I checked the properties, the music folder said it was the exact size of the file I had put in there, but I can't get the file to show up so I can properly set it as my ringtone! I even went into notification profiles and tried to see if it would show up there, and it didn't. It's so close, but yet so far! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I just opened the menu of the ringtones folder and clicked 'explore' and it actually showed the file names that I'd been saving, but when I went to open them, it said 'unable to display file.'

So I am either doing something wrong or Blackberry hates me.

Its possible you saved it to the music section? Or it saved it as an incomplete file.

When you open the email on your BlackBerry, try downloading the file instead of opening and saving.
