BlackBerry Flip Phone?! Seriously, What The Flip!!!
So I woke up this morning, hit my alarm buzz 36 times, drank a cup of coffee (well, actually it wasn’t a cup of coffee and I didn’t drink it), took my PortDrive and ran to work. I was real excited until I went on BGR and read a little article with a picture attached of a brand new BB Flip Phone! Yes, flip phone! What really interests me is how in the world did they manage to keep it so quiet for over a year now? I guess I did a pretty good job at throwing rumors at us with the new AK or Touch Screen while working on their new “Super Secret Device”? Way to go RIM, We are impressed lol.
Ok, I’m being a little harsh but as much as I love BB, flip phones are old!
I see where they're going with this thou, trying to get a grip on each side of the road which makes sense I guess - Smart Phones for teens and business men, Flip Phones for old folks that are having hard times finding the green call button. Everyone is happy right?
Give it a few more years and mobile phones will be wiped of the face of the earth and replaced with smart phone devices, PDAs, little gadgets, etc… While this already begin to happen, it’d be really nice to see something unique and different rather then something that’s been invented by Samsung 6 years ago lol.
Look at it this way, is this really what all of us are waiting for? Hoping for? Expecting? I’m not so impressed with the all new Blackberry 9000 to be honest, but with the whole Blackberry Flip Phone, it’d be a little hard for me to go “DANG”.
I might be wrong but I’m telling ya, if only RIM had their ears opened for their crown, they’d get a lot further than this by now lol. Actually, no I am not wrong!
Well hey, thought I’d share a piece of mind and tell you what I think. BlackBerry needs to step up and stop trying to please Mike Lazaridis and really focus on customers’ demands.
Am I disappointed with Blackberry? Of course not! I really do believe that they’ve got something going on with the whole touch screen technology but honestly, as for right now, stepping back from something like Pearl to a Samsung/Motorola-like flip phone? Sorry, just ain’t gonna work…
What ya all think?
PS: Props for BGR

i personally like the idea of this phone, it appeals to me.
i got rid of my pearl when i got my curve.
to me it would be kind of pointless for me to have my pearl and curve, so this thing is going to be a good companion for my 8320 and 9000 :]

@Mr. B.
Not sure why you say a flip phone is a step back. I have a Pearl, which is a good size, but flips usually fit much better in your pocket and feel better when you talk on them.
I'm kind of looking forward to seeing this in person.

Well u know, like I mentioned before, this device will have it's own audience and when I said a step back what I meant was, I can't see someone using a BB Pearl or Curve, switch back to a flip phone (something they've proly owned before).
Like Rollin said, it looks nice on the outside but on the inside, they really could of done a better job.
I guess an overall point is, flip phone is an idea to steal a part of that market area but I wish they spend the time to work on something amazing and unique to impress every eye rather then a flip phone.
I appreciate the response u guys Let's hear what others got to say.

This is not a step back at all my friend. One could argue that this phone is going to introduce the RIM brand to a whole new demographic of customers.
There will be people who like flip phones and have no desire to own a full keyboard or candy bar device. These people will grow to love the evolved functionality of the RIM flip and the step up they have made from the Motorola devices etc.
Every form factor has it's place in the market these days and it is smart of RIM to be catering to as wide a demographic as possible now that it is being recognized as a major player in both the casual and business sectors.

There are a ton of people that only want a flip phone, Rim is tryin to get everyone addicted to blackberries....
I however prefer my curve and wouldn't change for a flip type phone.

they could of made it a little more appealing... but like most companies do, this is prob a test to see if the public likes it, and if they do, prob in the next year there will be a better rim flip phone.

I'm actually waiting for the day where all your phone is is a little ear wig stuck in your ear and you can do everything with your brain. LoL. Pretty far fetched...but wouldn't surprise me.
