Default My 9530 thinks there's a headset plugged in

I have not been able to find any similar problems on BB's site or Verizon's site. I cannot get any audio from Slacker or on calls, and the mic does not work. When I plug in my headphones, I get sound though. It appears that it thinks there is a headset plugged in all the time. I have done several battery pulls, and it keeps messing up worse. Some of the times after the reset, it has just frozen, and others it has frozen on a black screen that says 'Verizon Wireless' and I cannot do anything. When this screen appears, I can lock the screen, and it will flash the 'screen locked' screen really quick and then return to the VW screen. I am only using 4.7.0.86, but I don't have the micro-USB cable yet (I am working on getting it tonight), so the update will have to wait for a little while.
Before I update though, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or knows what is causing it. Also, will the update actually work? I do plan to update regardless, and I will post the results, but if anyone knows another solution, I am very desperate.

Storms in general really suck, and has been the most exchanged BlackBerry since being released. I would contact your carrier and try to get a free upgrade to the Tour.

Lots of others are getting free upgrades.

Yeah seen that problem. Its a hardware defect and nothing you can do to fix it. Get rid of it. DataCentre is right, get the Tour. Its the Bold in a smaller package with better qualities.

Default There's no fix?

Crap. I performed the updates, and you guys are right; it didn't work. I am going to Verizon tomorrow. I just got the Storm the day before yesterday. This isn't fair! Thank you guys for the input.

DataCenter...Id love to know where your getting your info on the Storm??? The most exchanged BB? Um no! Free upgrades? Not by a long shot! If you dont like the phone, so be it, everyone has their preference, but stop giving false information...

Well they would give a free upgrade as long as its within the first 30 days but if the phone u want is more then the one u bought u would hav to pay the dif as far as I know, other then that they would just replace it for free.

I can only speak for Verizon's policy, but I have found out a lot about this. If you buy a phone from Verizon, and you decide within 30 days that you do not like it, you can return it and receive an upgrade, for the cost of the difference plus a restocking fee. If there is a legitimate defect in the phone, then the price of the difference can be waived, at the manager's discretion.
If, at any time, you have 3 of the same model of phone with a defect such that the phone must replaced (of course, it would be replaced with the same model phone twice), then, on the third time, you are eligible for a free upgrade, once again at the manager's discretion.

As a side note, if anyone is wondering what happened to me, since I posted twice asking for help with two separate Storms, after 3 defective Storms (I have horrible luck), and after visiting 3 different stores and learning the regulations, I went to a store with a nice manager who authorized the free upgrade. So I got a Tour! It is much better.

Woo hoo! Sorry about your luck, but it worked out for ya to get the Tour. And I agree with ya, it is much better than the Storm.
