I'm still trying to figure out why you're saying yes. Everything you just mentioned would be a huge turn off for the regular BlackBerry user.

I've had my iPod Touch for just over a year now and I still can't type on it as fast as my blackberry, and still make way too many spelling errors. Same goes with the storm for me. Storm is just the BlackBerry version of the iPod Touch/Phone.

The Storm looks wonderful and I just tinkered with it for 5 -10 minutes on 2 seperate occassions at the Verzion store. My personality, I am all about speed and the seemingly lag/pause when going from one screen to another was noticeable. I found it easier texting from a side look vs its Pearl format (my big thumbs), which was nearly impossible for me to text. Reason I didn't get an Iphone, bc it was so frustrating for me to text, I peck is more like it. Not to say the Iphone is bad, just not for me. I found that surprisingly since my last Blackberry, a Pearl was so easy to text. I guess another detractor for me is I have ATT which this phone is avail only to Verizon customers. ATT's customer service has been great to me, no problems whatsoever even with my trackball going out on my Bold. I wasn't about to switch or get another service just for a phone. If it was for ATT I might consider it if given more time to tinkier with it. My favorite still is the Bold, and then the Pearl in 2nd place. I believe there is a new Curve (The Curve's verison of the Bold imo) on the horizon, if not out yet which is like the Bold, but less expensive I assume. I still say no right now, but if I was given more time to tinker with, I might say yes. I know in my area, they are running a special, if you buy 1 Storm, one can get another Blackberry free...don't know what the full details are on that.

Smile Count me a YES

I've had my Storm for just about three days, and so far, I love it! I've only had lengthly experience with an 8830, had the 8330 for a few days and I can't stand SureType on a Pearl. I'm not a RIM guru, my background is in Palm devices, from my original III to my Zire 72. I like the Storm because it is exactly what I was wishing my Zire could be. The screen is BEAUTIFUL. I'm still fumbling through the virtual keypad but I like the click response better than that of the iPhone (I'm very heavy-handed). Love the music player, and I'm still learning which video formats work with it.

My main gripe is with the camera software. Looking at the specs, the on-board camera should be taking way better pics and video, so I blame the software, which is usually the case with some higher-end pda phones. I was a regular shooter with my LG enV and much of my vacation/travel pix were taken with it with decent results. I hope that a 3rd party camera app gets developed or RIM decides to tackle the issue itself.

I gotta get used to profiles. A lot of flexibility/customization options, but why can't I just raise and lower the volume like any other phone?

Love the browser. considering I've been living in WAP world on my enV, this is new sense of freedom. Not as robust as the desktop browser experience, but I'm still impressed at what I can do without lugging around a laptop.

Speaking of which, Mobile Broadband is the bomb. My 8830 nevere provided laptop internet as snappy.

Oh, yeah, unless I'm not getting it, I only have 9 speed dials?

Reading around, there seems to be a lot of gripes about the storm in terms of stability and usability. But I myself haven't noticed anything horrible yet (besides the camera). Text input isn't as snappy as a Curve or anything with a physical keypad, but it's still miles better than Grafitti or anything that requires a stylus that I'm goint to get tired of losing.

Audio quality is good, but I've spent more type playing with it than using it for phone calls. Again, love the music player. I can surf the web and listen to music!

Software selection seems thin, but I just started looking. I haven't tried any games. I do like the little app that locks the screen while on a call. Is there a way to autolock the screen after a timeout, like any other phone?

So, for now, consider me a fan and YES, I recommend it. I'll let y'all know if that changes.

Default Yes!!!

I've had my storm for about 3 weeks now and I love it with a passion. All these problems people are complaining about don't seem to happen with my phone. The only thing is that yes it lags but its not that much of a problem for me and I'm sure the lags will dramatically decrease with a new official update once it comes out.

Had mine 6 weeks. Had to remove some garbage and update the OS, but I love it now! I can text while driving, listen to music all the time, and have a few movies on it. Use the GPS and beyond 411. If I'd only tinkered with it at the store or a friends for a few hours, I'd probably hate it too, it takes a couple weeks to learn how to use it but then it's awsome!

The problem with just going out and getting one just to find out that it sucks, spending the huge dollar sign to get it!
