Been using mine for over a month now and have to say that the texting is a pain BUT besides that, I love the touch screen. So my answer is yes.

Texting on anything without a full qwerty is a pain!

I have noticed that most of the people that responded to your question DON'T have a storm. I got mine the day it came out and yes it does have little issues, but what new phone doesn't? It took me about a week to get used to using the touchscreen it but I LOVE my storm! So all these people who say they played with their friends for a few minutes or stopped by the store and messed around with the demo aren't necessarily gonna give you the best feedback. My opinion is go for it, hey if you don't like it, you have 30 days to return it!

The Storm is just an ok phone, it freezes pretty often and its pretty hard to text/type fast on it. By far the best phone hands down to me is still the 3G iPhone. Why did I sell it and switch carriers other than the Bogo sale I got on it?

I had a pearl 8100 for a year, then a curve 8320. I now have the storm and after using it for about a week Ive gotten used to it. The key board isn't as easy as that of the Curve, but if you like suretype then you'll be typing fast. If you think you might like the storm then get it. Verizon's return policy is 30 days and if anything you could just put it up for sale on a website and get enough money to buy a curve or something.

I have a Bold...mess with the Storm like 24/7 and make stuff for Javelin lol

Storm is a really cool phone and themes are gonna look pretty cool on it. Although a tad slow at times, its really worth getting one...just make sure to stay up to date with the latest OS updates and you'll be fine

Ive noticed when people find out you have a touchscreen, everyone want to play with it. This could be good if you like to show off but bad if you dont want everyone and their mother touching your phone

It's not worth it! If verizon would have had the bold I would have gone with that, as it is I got my storm for about 100 dollars and one free for my upgrade.
I have the 8830 World Edition before that, sometimes I am ready to go back to that.
I have had my storm for 2 weeks, typing is not all that! Internet is better but hard to move arould in.
When I am on calls i lose them because for some reason i tap the screen with my face.
Not much comes with it, your have to pay for everything out there. From a diehard bb user to another "Stay away from the storm" its more of a toy for teen's than what we are use too.
