I'm glad to here that I'm not the only person experiencing problems with my Tour. I thought it was just me since this is my first blackberry. I have my trackball set at 80 and it seems to work better now, but I still have problems. If you move the ball too fast then it will move in different directions, especially when you're moving from left to right. A track pad would be a great alternative, or even a small d-pad like a video game controller.

I also have had problems with my trackball. I've had my Tour for a while now and it just started getting worse. I'm just glad to see I'm not the ONLY one.

Well, its time to make people mad. Not intentionally, but this has to be done. The Essex is due in the Q1 of 2010. The Essex is the code name for the 9650, otherwise known as the Tour2. Which is the same device you hold in your hands now, except it has the TrackPad and features WiFi. I know I'll be shelling out full price for that model. But it better come 5.0 already installed.

Oh man this sucks for the ones who shelled out the $$$ for the 9630...that includes me too lol. I wish they'd give the 9630 owners a discount or something if we buy the 9650...wishful thinking though I guess :P thanks for letting us know about the new essex, now we can start saving ahead of time for it lol!

I'm a tech in a Verizon store, and the trackball is reason why I'm not in a rush to get the current Tour. I did figure out how to clean the trackball, even though it's mounted in the device.

I take a sticky note sheet, and slide the corner into the crease between the screen and trackball.. I work it like floss, then I go into the crease above the keyboard and do the same. A couple bursts of compressed air in the creases makes things more loose, and I've yet have anyone return due to that not working.. I also have a small brush I use to get in there, very fine bristles and it works better than the paper trick..

I will be upgrading to the Tour2 once it's out..

Well to inform everyone that if they look at their contract, they will see that Sprint has raised a rate to .40 cents from the previous rate. I checked into this in December and the Sprint rep agreed that in January people could get out of their contract without the "early termination fee" because Sprint actually broke the contract by this rate hike. So you can terminate your contract then open a new one and get the "9650 Essex" under a new contract.

CoolTecch, can you elaborate more on this contract breach by Sprint? Thanks
