And use the standby button if your not using the phone or ints in your pocket...saves battery power

when you put BB on stand by can you still receive phone calls?

You can put it in standby mode by holding the mute key @ the top of the device. It still allows you to receive calls, messages, and e-mail. In short, it still does everything as if it were in regular mode but it saves battery and if you put it in your pocket or purse, then it puts on a keyboard lock.
