Unlove large scratch/small crack on my 8100!! help me!

hey, i have an 8100 and my sister let my nephew play with it (i'm gonna kill her) and i didn't see exactly what he did to it but now there is a large scratch/small crack (i really cant tell what it is - it's like a very deep scratch, about 1cm long) on my screen and it's driving me nuts because it's smack down in the middle of my screen! how do i fix this (replace the screen? or what?)? and how can i prevent this from happening again after i fix this?

please help! i just got this phone and my mother will kill me and call me irresponsible and i am NOT!!

The only thing to really do is replace the screen and make sure you have a case at ALL times!!
