Hi all im ollie, from the uk and just got my first blackberry its the 8100, got it off my brother who only used it a week before geting an upgrade some months ago now so its still like new condition apart from having the colour pearl app and facebook app.

It was locked on O2 which i got an unlocking code from ebay for £4.50, was quite chuffed how quick and easy it was to be honest.

I have had a quick browse through the website and thought it was time to introduce myself, basically i need to update the software i think and ring my service provider first to try get my facebook app working! and get a data cable as i didnt get one, how do i tell what o.s is on it?

Also if anyone can tell me how to get blackberry messenger working, i have a few people with bb's might use this sevice as its free

Welcome to eveek, to check ur OS go to options then about and it will be on the 3rd line, either 4.2 or 4.5, and u need a data plan to us any app that uses the internet like facebook or bbm if u don't hav one they won't work.

right i have just looked what software i have and it says V4.2.1.101 and i have an unlimited internet access so should work, i can get on the internet no problem, just cant get my apps to work!

Cuz it sounds like the prob I had for a while when I got my bb, I had unlimited internet but it wasn't the bb data plan, once I got the bb data plan everything worked fine.

just been on the phone to orange and yes i needed the blackberry data plan! which i didnt realise. but that has been added so within 24hrs i should all be up and running! just the data cable now and im all set to go
