Star 4.5 Themes and You

4.5 Themes: How to get em

So here it is at last, the beginning of the 4.5 era in BlackBerry theme skinning! What does 4.5 mean for you? It means new looks for the homescreen such as “Bottom-Dock” or “L,” 4.5 Operating System (OS) support, and more! But if you want the coolest BlackBerry at the party then you are going to have to do a thing or two to prepare your phone to handle the new 4.5 themes.

For starters, you need to get a 4.5 OS installed on your phone. If you are not sure what version your phone is, go to Options>About. Check out our [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] tutorial on how to go about doing that.

Note: You must also have Desktop Manager 4.5 to upgrade your phone AND install 4.5 themes

Note 2: You must have the Dimension Today 4.5 theme installed or else 4.5 Custom Themes will not work!!!

Once you’ve the Desktop Manager 4.5 (or higher) and your phone is all setup you’ll be ready to give your phone a complete makeover in minutes! The installation process is exactly the same as before, but if this is your first time then I’d recommend you take a gander at our [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] tutorial so that you can do it right!

So, without further ado go load up your phone from the links below…

Note: Custom Homescreen Icons Cannot Be Changed!!! Don't complain or report this as a bug!!! There is nothing we can do about it

Well the new wifi meter is now the new signal meter...so the signal meter becomes irrelevant. That's the reason why its on top

Default A little more custom

I downloaded all 3 new 4.5 themes for my 8700, and they do look great! Yet I still stick with my old flamboyent zen theme. The reason is I can customize the icons on my home screen. If support was added to the themes that your main home screen icons were your first 7-10 application screen icons, that would be perfect. Theres just more important applications that I'd rather have on my home screen vs 'profiles' (it's my side button shortcut) and 'media' (it's an 8700, 30mb for apps, 30mb for mp3s, i use my ipod for media)

Great start to the 4.5 themes Good stuff. However it wasn't enough to shake me from my current theme, the Flowberry from Bplay. This isn't a knock to you though ;o) but a hint hint wink wink, that if you make a theme with that style, maybe different icon. I know i'll be changing to that as soon as you drop it lol.

But great start off with the 4.5s, especially like that Redex one, it's different, feeling it!

Hey how do you get rid of the "Web link: eVeek" that shows up in the apps menu after installing the themes?

Also, can the makers of the new Precision L theme at least try to find out if the Plazmic makers (or another theme making program) will ever be able to allow 4.5 themes to be made with the main screen icons able to be moved around? It's ridiculous that we can't but we were always able to before..

I know that but this wasn't in the app list or the internet bookmarks. It's just a web link to eveek that showed up with the apps after installing the 3 new themes. Luckily it just disappeared at some point lol.
