When I signed up with AT&T to keep the phone number but on a new personal account I noticed that I could no longer get on the internet. Kept getting a message that the phone could not connect to the mobile data service. An AT&T tech diagnosed the problem as the phone still somehow being linked to my old office's Blackberry server network. He advised me to right click, go to options, browser configuration and then change the browser from blackberry to internet. He then sent some sort of reset signal and asked that I remove and replace the battery. Genius, it worked. With some curious side effects.

First, there were little things. The button on the side of the phone that triggered the camera stopped working. Oh, the camera worked, but you now had to go into the media icon, click pictures and then click camera. BTW, my pictures which all readily appeared when you clicked into pictures under the media icon now no longer appear. At first I thought I had lost them. But I found that if I right clicked and hit explore - device memory - home - user - pictures I can now get to them and my videos. Annoying. They used to just appear front and center when I went into pictures/videos.

The most annoying thing though is my favorite Word Mole game. It simply disappeared from the games section. It was the only one. All the other games (Brickbreaker, Klondike etc.) stayed. Strangely, the phone seems to believe it's there. If I go into Options (the icon with the wrench) - Advanced options - Applications - it shows it listed.

So following some web tips I found I installed Blackberry Desktop Manager and figured I would use Application Loader to put a check mark next to it. Here's what happens. When I click on Application Loader - Add/remove applications it seems to think I only have four applications (Bloomberg, Yellowpages.com etc.) on my Blackberry.

I give up.
Sounds like the phone still has IT Policies on it. You need to completely wipe your phone and reload the OS, or go into the service books and delete all the IT Policies manually.

Thanks. I accidentally dropped it two days ago and the battery popped out. When I put it back together again it was back to normal. Files were back where they should be, all the buttons worked as before and, most importantly, Word Mole was back. It appears the solution was a small dose of gravity. Who knew?
