Are you downloading the file on this site on your BB or on your computer?

Then move the vendor.xml from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader to somewhere else (I just moved it to my desktop).

From there, connect your BB, and run the desktop manager. It should see that you've got updates. (The 4.5 OS comes with "Documents 2 Go" which is nice). You can go through what's gonna be installed, and add/remove items from there. Pretty much leave it as is.

Once you click next, the update will start. It'll take about 20-30 minutes for the entire process to complete (unless your PC is sloooooooooooow).

Once the upgrade is complete, your phone will "re-activate", but other than that, it should work like it did before, only newer OS.

I hope that's not too confusing
First of all thank you for trying to help.
Well see, the problem is that I've downloaded 4.5.0.69 from the BBPearl 8100 section, and I have it on my desktop waiting, and yes I have DM 4.5 installed, but when I click on the 4.5.0.69 file nothing happens...Should I try downloading a different file?

Default Help!!

So, i just followed the directions that applied to updating my 8700c bb with 4.5 os. I installed the applicable version of 4.5 and followed the installation instructions. I deleted that file in common files (which by the way, i later saw someone say it should be moved..not deleted! although the instructions in the beginning say to delete). Once installation had completed, i plugged my bb in and a little window popped up in my tool bar on the bottom right that said that something was installing. I noticed that you had said that i should start desktop manager and I would be prompted to update so i did that and nothing happened. So, i assumed that message on the bottom right was informing me that the update had already occurred, but when i checked my phone..nothing happened! now what do i do?

When I want to add an application, the BB is looking for an .ali or.alx file. However, when I download an application such as a game it comes through as a .jad or .jar file.

How can I get the game onto the BB?
