Thank you very much... I followed the instructions and upgraded to OS 4.5 last night... piece of cake and had no problems at all...
I, too, followed directions to the T and got upgraded to 4.5! Everything was put back on my phone with no problem. Thanks for the information. I love this website!!
My only question now is can I enable/disable cookies on my phone? Sprint picture message feature is in our internet browser and it keeps telling me to enable it. Please advise and Thanks in advance!
im searching here and getting pissed off. i upgraded to the 4.5 backed up my phne before i installed it in there. after install of the 4.5. my 8310 has been sitting next to me for the past 45 minutes with a white screen and the hour glass spinning. tried to power the phone off. it didnt nothing. pulled the battery and im back on the same screen. i plug it in to DM and it does nothing. how bad did i screw my phone up? and what can i do or try to fix it?
Follow these instructions exactly and you should be able to have OS 4.5 working.
1.) BACK UP YOUR DATA! - I can't stress how important it is to get a good backup in the event you need to restore your data.
2.) Verify that you are using the latest version of Desktop Manager. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. In the Desktop manager program on your PC use the Help menu and select About Desktop Manager.
3.) Install 4.5 using the .exe file you just downloaded. If you are downloading the OS specific for your carrier you can skip step 5. I other words if upgrading a T-Mobile BlackBerry with T-Mobile OS then you can skip this step. However, if you have an At&T Wireless Blackberry and the OS is non-At&T eg. from Vodafone, you MUST follow step 5.
4.) Delete the 'Vendor.xml' file ( C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader ) Or search your computer's hard drive for the "vendor.xml" file. Once you find it, delete it.
5.) Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer. If prompted, type your BlackBerry device password and click OK.
6.) Open Desktop Manager. It should recognize that there is an upgrade for your device. ('Vendor.xml' must be deleted for this step to work).
8) When the Application Loader Wizard is finished examining the configuration on the BlackBerry device, the Device Application Selection screen appears listing the applications and OS version available for installation. The selected check boxes indicate applications that are already installed on the BlackBerry device.
9) If you didn't backup first you should select to do so now.
10) Follow the prompts and you will have OS 4.5 installed in about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data it has to backup.
Note:
If after OS install while connected via USB the hour glass spins allow your Blackberry reboot once or twice Do Not unplug mine took about 90 minutes. Good luck
