Hello. I'm trying to install the 8320 4.5.0.93 update. I am following the instructions provided above. I am however running into a little snag. If I start the Desktop Manager before I delete the vendor.xml file, it prompts me to update my device. However, since this is a Beta/unofficial update(according to the instructions that is), the vendor.xml file needs to be deleted. If I delete this file before launching Desktop Manager, it doesn't show me that there is an update. Do I delete the file after launching the DM or am I missing something?

Currently, I have the T-Mobile Official Update version 4.5.0.81 installed and want to get something else since *.81 added more bugs than the previous OS did. My Keyboard backlight no longer works like it should, no matter the settings in the options or what. It comes on SOMETIMES and then fades out after like 10 seconds, or just doesn't come on at all. So, I am hoping this new OS will fix that.

I have also tried to downgrade to the original OS version that came on the phone, but I get a Fatal Error every time in DM. It doesn't give any details or anything. I'm afraid to do a Wipe and Restore with another application.

Any help here would be fantastic.

Double click on the application you downloaded and go through the installation process. Once that is complete, plug your phone in VIA the USB cable. Then launch the Desktop Manager. It should prompt your to upgrade. I highly recommend reading through these forums for more information. Depending on where you got the upgrade, you may have to make some changes. If you install it without doing everything right, you could turn your phone into a nice paper weight.

Ok.. You upgraded from 4.2 to 4.5, but to which version of 4.5? There are several options to choose from.. Did you get the latest one? I don't know how much help I will be able to give, but this could be information someone else might be able to use, or know a work-around for. Personally, I have an 8320 Curve. I just updated mine to the latest version with no problems, but when texting and such, my keyboard doesn't light up, or lights up and then fades out. It's done this same thing since I upgraded from 4.2 to 4.5(now 3 different versions of 4.5). It does this no matter what the settings are in the Screen/Keyboard settings. I've tried every option. If I felt comfortable using JL_Commander, I would just wipe it and go back to 4.2. Unless someone can give me the fix for my heyboard issue.. lol

Good Luck to you Sir...

The upgrades are performed in the PC by DM, no OTA options for this procedure i'm afraid. And that goes for any BB model
